Message from William George,
Health Partners President and Chief Executive Officer
Welcome to Health Partners’ website, www.healthpart.com.
We hope you will find useful information about our company,
our Health Partners plan benefits, important
member health education materials,
and even a glimpse into how we’re impacting the Greater
Philadelphia area community (see the News
section).
But first, let’s begin with an introduction to Health
Partners.
What’s it all about?
At Health Partners, it’s about making a difference…

We make a difference in our members’ lives because
we are a different kind of health plan. As a not-for-profit,
hospital-owned HMO, we provide health care benefits to
about 135,000 area residents with the guidance and support
of very prestigious medical schools
and hospitals in our area. |

We also make a difference because at Health Partners,
we believe that if we are going to improve the health
status of our members, we have to truly understand their
needs. We do that by going beyond the traditional definition
of a health plan and spending time in the communities
we serve. That’s why we offer and support programs
like our nationally recognized award-winning
Computer Literacy Program, member-focused “Baby
Partners” prenatal initiative, the Dawn Staley After-school Program for Teens,
School Perfect Attendance programs, and more. These projects
do more than enrich lives…they help change them. |

Finally, we make a difference because we go beyond what
a health plan can do to provide community support through
our Health Partners Foundation. Funded through employee,
vendor and Board donations, our Foundation supports book
purchases for inner city schools, emergency relief such
as speedy Heat Relief fan distribution, and other programs
to benefit Philadelphia area neighborhoods. |

think you’ll get a better understanding of just what makes
Health Partners so unique. Some might say our philosophy sounds
strange coming from a managed care organization. We like to
